The Fowler track and field team have hit their midway point of the season after the Grizzles competed in the Rick Hartley Longhorn Invitational in Springfield last weekend.

The Grizzly boys placed ninth as a team with 29 points and the Grizzly girls placed seventh with 39 points. The Grizzlies top individual finishers included Brand Sharp with a sixth place finish in the 110 meter hurdles and a fifth place finish in the 300 meter hurdles, boys 4x100 meter relay finished seventh, boys 4x200 meter relay finished sixth, boys 4x800 meter relay finished fifth, Garret Gribble with a first place finish in shot put and a sixth place finished in discus, Lexi Van Sickle with a seventh place finish in the 200 meter dash and a fifth place finish in the 400 meter dash, Jacquelin Alvey with a sixth place finish in the 800 meter run, Emily Aragon with a 4th place finish in the 3,200 meter run, Teyah Schiffer with a sixth place finish in the 100 meter hurdles, girls 4x100 meter relay finished sixth, girls 4x200 finished third, girls 4x800 finished fifth, girls 800 sprint medley finished sixth, and Kassidy Lotrich with a third place finish in discus.

The Grizzlies were in La Junta this week for the Tiger Relays on Wednesday, April 19. The Grizzlies will also travel to Swink on Monday, April 24, to compete in the Ray Headley Invitational beginning at 9 a.m.

Grizzlies split games with Las Animas

The Grizzlies matchup with Las Animas caused a nail bitter of a first game as the Grizzlies attempted to come back in the seventh inning but came up short and fell to Las Animas 5-4. During the second game to Grizzlies came back fighting, scoring early in the 1st inning and scoring four runs during the fifth inning to pull the Grizzlies away for a win over Las Animas 9-5. The Grizzlies are now 3-4 in league play and 3-7 overall.

The Grizzlies travel to Rye for a varsity/JV doubleheader on Tuesday, April 18, beginning at 3 p.m. They will also travel to Eads for a varsity/JV doubleheader on Saturday, April 22 beginning at 10 a.m., and will host Manzanola for a varsity/JV matchup on Tuesday, April 25, beginning at 3 p.m.

Grizzly golfers hold strong

The Grizzly golfers competed in Pueblo West Invitational last week. Matching up with large schools the Grizzlies held their ground and competed well. During the tournament, the Grizzlies placed fourth as a team with a score of 424. Individually, Gabri Leone shot a 96 and tied for fifth place, Jacy Rogers shot a 107, Dacey Corsentino shot a 109, and Jessica Dawson shot a 112.

The Grizzlies will be busy as they compete at the Salida Tournament on Friday, April 21, at 10 a.m., at the Trinidad Tournament on Tuesday, April 25, at 10 a.m., at the Pueblo East Tournament on Wednesday, April 26, at 9 a.m., and the Alamosa Tournament on Thursday, April 27 at 9 a.m.
