SALIDA — The Swink and Fowler high school girls' golf teams competed at the Salida Invitational, which took place Friday at the Salida Golf Club.

The Lady Lions were second and they were led by Jolene Carrica, who took second place with a 97. She was six strokes behind the medalist, Rachael Shaffer of Rye, with a 91.

Other Lady Lions included Jadyn Bevington, who was third with a 99 and Lexie Summers, who tied for 14th with a 112.

Fowler did not have a team score. Jessica Dawson placed 11th with a 106 and Tatyanna Bradshaw was 27th with a 123.

Rye won the tournament with 305, three strokes ahead of Swink.

Fowler, Swink and La Junta will all be at the Trinidad Invitational on Tuesday.

La Junta cancels appearance at Monte Vista

The La Junta High School girls' golf team was scheduled to play at the Monte Vista Invitational on Friday. However, mechanical difficulties with their vehicle on the way to Monte Vista resulted in the Lady Tigers canceling their appearance.
