Award nominations are now open for the Brand Inspector of the Year, the Law Officer of the Year, and the Commercial and Seedstock Producer of the Year, to be presented at Colorado Cattlemen’s Association’s (CCA) 2018 Mid-Winter Conference on January 15-17 at the Renaissance Hotel in Denver, CO.

Each year CCA, in conjunction with Operation Livestock Thief, recognizes a brand inspector who has set himself apart and gone above and beyond the call of duty to serve our industry. The Brand Inspector of the Year award is presented to a brand inspector who has displayed exemplary performance in upholding livestock laws and preventing livestock theft. Kenny Burk II from Fountain was the recipient of the award in 2017.

The Law Officer of the Year Award is presented to a Colorado law enforcement officer who has exhibited extraordinary performance and served our industry above and beyond the call of duty. Deputy Jeremiah Lee of the La Plata County Sheriff’s Office was named the 2017 Law Officer of the Year, and was applauded for his willingness to go above and beyond to help the community and always get the job done. This award can be given to any member of the law enforcement community; including patrol or wildlife officers, representatives of the sheriff’s department, county or states’ attorneys, judges, etc.

The Outstanding Commercial and Seedstock Producers of the Year are awarded to innovative beef producers who contribute to the enhancement of cattle and the beef industry, and whose hard work has made a significant impact on the industry. In 2017, the Outstanding Commercial Producer award was presented to the Todd Ranch of Crawford, CO. The Todd Ranch is a 4th generation Simmental based cow-calf operation that is deeply seeded in ranching heritage. The Wagon Wheel Ranch of Yuma, CO was awarded the Outstanding Seedstock Producer award. The ranch was started in the 1950’s and is a registered Angus seedstock ranch, which has been a long-time fixture in marketing seedstock at the National Western Stock Show.

If you know someone who is deserving of one of these awards, please contact Heidi Brown at the CCA office at (303) 431-6422, or heidi@coloradocattle.org. The deadline to submit nominations is November 1, 2017.
