Feb. 17, 1938 – April 5, 2017

Opal M. Hollenback, 79, passed away on April 5, 2017, at her Rocky Ford home. Opal was born Feb. 17, 1938, in Springfield, Colorado, to Jakie and Mary G. (Ferrell) Crane. She married Jim F. Hollenback on Dec. 14, 1953, in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death on Oct. 27, 2010.

Opal loved taking care of animals on the family farm. She enjoyed collecting chicken figurines. She loved her family and friends, cooking, keeping up the house and enjoyed shopping. She supported horse shows and 4-H and was a 4-H mother. Opal will be missed dearly by her family and friends.

She is survived by her children, Debbie (Greg) Storey of La Junta; Shelly (Richard Evans) Hollenback of Rocky Ford; grandson, Hunter Evans; sister, Zelma Quinn of Spruce Pine, North Carolina; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; daughter, Paula; granddaughter, Stacy; sisters, Thelma and Peggy and brothers, Edwin and Hershel.

Funeral services will be Saturday, April 8, 2017, at 10 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel with Pastor Gail Allen of the Cowboy Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Springfield Cemetery in Springfield.
