The First Initial Low-Income Energy Assistance Program numbers were reported by Director of Human Services Donna Rohde at Monday’s Otero County Commissioners meeting. The First Initial Payment to vendors was $183,958.50 and to clients, $9,345.27. There are 66 pending applications. Last year’s pending applications at this reporting numbered 111, so things are moving smoothly, said Rohde. There have been 886 applications in all. The limits of monthly income are as follows, according to number in household: 1, $1,361; 2, $1,839; 3, $2,316; 4, $2,794; 5, $3,271; 6, $3,749; 7, $4,226; 8, $4,704.
Several agreements were submitted. The agreement with Rocky Mountain Microfilm Imaging is for $771,565. The imaging gives the department space for records in their files. The 2018 Memorandum of Understanding for Hotline County Communication Connection Center in Lamar keeps Otero County from having to staff their hotline at night. “The cost of $230 is a great deal,” said Rohde. The Single Entry Point item includes many and varied home services from nursing home to handicapped (mostly state and federal money, $771,565). The Recruitment and Retention Grant is for the foster children program ($4,100). The contract with Attorney Phil Malouff for everything but child support services is for up to $72,000; the child support services is also with Malouff for up to $47,000. The contract for county paralegal Services is with Sheryl Seamans for up to $14,000. The contract for child support services and county paralegal services is for up to $8,880.
