The 2019 State FFA Career Development Events were held on May 5 and 6 in Fort Collins, Colorado. Even though the competitors were allowed to escape the busy end of the year for a couple of days, they were hard at work. Constantly studying during class, as well as on their own time. Each team that competed at state, had to place in the top two in the district. Teams that competed at State CDEs included Floriculture, Farm Business Management, Livestock Evaluation, Land Evaluation, and Horse Evaluation.
Members of the Floriculture team included Gentry Martin, Shaina Enciso, Viri Cabrera, and McKenzie Kiniston. Gentry Martin placed bronze in the individual category. The entire team placed silver.
The Farm Business Management team had a great day at CSU. Members of this team were Dawson Roesch, Mavric Leighty, and Sidney Larrew. Dawson placed gold and tied for the second highest individual. Mavric placed gold and Sidney placed silver. As a team score, they received gold, but were also the state winning team. They beat the second place team by 48
points! They will be moving onto the National CDEs in Indianapolis, Indiana in October.
Members of the Livestock Evaluation were Katie Bronniman, Kaitlyn Roesch, Maggie Chase, and Cassidy Jagers. Individual results were Kaitlyn getting bronze as well Cassidy. Overall, the team placed bronze.
The members of the Land Evaluation team were Rylan Herrera, Adrian Longoria, and Christopher Torres. This team worked extremely hard and learned a lot along the way.
The last team that competed at the State CDEs was the Horse Evaluation team. Members of this team were Anna Beckett and Edith Mungaray.
Congratulations to all teams for their hard work. We are excited to see how the Farm Business Management team will compete at National Convention, as well as the teams for next year. We wish the best of luck to everyone!
