Informational meeting Friday at 3, 4-H Building, Arkansas Valley Fairgrounds
Chuck Hanagan, County Director for Farm Service Agency, wants to remind area farmers that it’s time to make decisions on which Farm Service Agency Agricultural Risk Coverage or Price Loss Coverage program they want to participate in for the 2019 and 2020 crop years. Farmers will have until March 15 to make this selection.
The 2018 Farm Bill extended the ARC-PLC program but made substantial changes for the upcoming years.
Local producers need to make every effort to attend the 2018 Farm Bill meeting in Rocky Ford this Friday, Nov. 8 at 3 p.m. This currently is the only informational meeting planned in this area. It’s the producer’s responsibility to become educated on the programs and the options available.
Program specialist from FSA and Colorado State Extension will be providing the updated program information including options for update yields and providing tools for producers to use in making their decisions.
The office staff continually is fielding questions regarding the ARC-PLC program and which option is better. The employees are prohibited from encouraging one program over the other.
Producers will have until March 15, 2020, to finalize their program decision. Anyone with questions or needing special accommodations should contact the Otero/Crowley FSA Office at (719) 254-7672 ext.2
