Colorado Proud business Postcard Foods provides globally inspired freezer meals
Postcard Foods is a mobile food business based along Interstate 70 at Dumond, Colorado. Owners Bridget Bagel and Jim Abraham are both avid travelers, and the pair decided to name their business Postcard Foods for both their love of the forgotten art, as well as a great descriptor for the wide breadth of their globally inspired menu.
Each of Bridget’s from-scratch recipes is named for the place of that meal's inspiration, and the wide array of dietary preferences available in her cooking reflects the highly personal relationship that each one of us has with our food. They source their ingredients locally when they can and pivoted during the COVID-19 pandemic by adding a free doorstep delivery of their freezer meals and soups to Front Range communities. Meals are delivered in plant-based compostable and recyclable containers.
Why prepared meals?
Bridget and Jim met at Burning Man in the summer of 2017, serving ice cream made from 100-pound liquid nitrogen tanks. At the time, Bridget was living in Boston and earning her masters in gastronomy, while Jim toiled away in Denver, devising strategy for a company making surgical equipment.
Bridget began preparing frozen meals for Jim while they were dating long distance, so that at the end of each night they could video chat and enjoy dinner together, even while thousands of miles apart.
She quickly realized that the frozen meals she was making for her honey would be the perfect dinner for anyone looking for a flavorful home cooked meal to keep handy for when they want it most.
The pair began to recreate her wholesome, globally inspired recipes, to offer to passing travelers from their vintage postcard-shaped mountain outpost, and quickly after, started personally dropping off meals to hungry families across the Front Range from Boulder down to Castle Pines.
Bridget proudly and personally makes every Postcard Foods meal to feed 2-3 loved ones using plant-fiber compostable packaging, designed for both the oven and microwave. All of her recipes are made from simple ingredients, and her menu includes vegan, gluten-free, dairy free, and kid-friendly options.
